Tinkle ECO bamboo wipes are made of 100% biodegradable bamboo, and are free from fragrance, parabens, phthalates and chlorine.

Ingredients: 100% Bamboo fibre, Purified water, Glycerin, Centaurea Cyanus Flower Extract, Citric Acid, 4′-Hydroxyacetophenone, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate.

All brands of water wipes have small amounts of additives (around 0.01%) along with the 99.9% water to keep them fresh. We have selected only food-grade additives, combined to allow them to work synergistically. This means they are present in the smallest quantities possible, while still making sure that the wipes stay sterile and can’t grow any nasties that shouldn’t be there.

Breaking these ingredients down…

Water (aqua)

Water is a crucial ingredient in baby wipes as it’s a carrier and diluent for the other ingredients. We use extensive filtration to ensure that only the purest water is in our wipes.

Glycerin

Vegetable oil. As a humectant (locks in moisture), glycerin is a non-toxic, viscous liquid that helps our wipes hold water, ensuring they’re moist and gentle on baby’s skin. In addition, it has some antimicrobial and antiviral properties, providing protection from skin irritants, hydrating skin, and supporting the healing of irritated skin.

Centaurea Cyanus Flower Extract

Centaurea cyanus (cornflower) flower extract is used in wipes as a natural, soothing agent to calm ittitation, reduce redness, and hydrate sensitive or delicate skin. It is gentle, anti-inflammatory, and refreshing.

Citric Acid

This is a natural preservative which helps to regulate pH and prevent irritation.

4′-Hydroxyacetophenone

This is an antioxidant, skin-soothing agent, and a “preservative booster” that enhances the effectiveness of other antimicrobial ingredients

Sodium Benzoate

This is a gentle, food-grade antimicrobial preservative which prevents bacterial and fungal growth.

Potassium Sorbate

This is a gentle antimicrobial agent which prevents mould, yeast and bacterial growth.

So while we definitely do not recommend them as a meal – our wipes are vegan-friendly and could technically be eaten (though they’d be pretty bland and tough, in our opinion. Pass the Wattie’s tomato sauce?!)
